UPFRONT | From the editor January/February 2022 Volume 27, Number 1 Keep moving forward In May 2020, we officially re-launched our magazine with a new outlook as Chiropractic + Naturopathic Doctor. At the time of publication, we were in the very beginnings of this now 2-year pandemic. I look back and think it was so overtly positive that I thought things could go “back to normal” in only a couple of months. While we may be looking at 2022 as yet another pandemic year, with new variants and closures still looming (or occurring). But I also foresee this year as nothing but opportunity for collaborative healthcare. We’re re-introducing our frequent contributors within our next few issues, and so far, nothing but positive outlooks for the respective profes-sions in the next decade. Our population is aging, and the pandemic has highlighted the need for preventative healthcare. “People are desperately looking for avenues to get and stay healthy, and both chiropractic and naturopathy are in many ways perfectly positioned to provide direction to this end,” say Drs. Thomson and Pooley in our cover story (page 7). Dr. Don Fitz-Ritson is finishing out his 10-part “life and longevity” series in this issue. (Page 17.) Reading his stories for over a year, it’s very clear that the research supports that movement--whichever fits your age, ability, agility--helps us in so many ways that I can’t possibly recount them all here. If there’s only one phrase I could pinpoint that summarizes the series, it’s to keep moving--to keep moving forward. Simple movement, which for me, is something like walking long distances, or hiking through the woods brings me physical gains, sure. But also mental clarity. Our mental clarity transitions to our work and business side of life. How many of you were able to reflect on the last year (or two) and set up goals and ambitions for 2022? As our cover story posits: “Just when you think you understand a situation, what you don’t understand is that the situation just changed.” Our end-goal can stay the same, but how we get there may need to change. Maybe it will take us a bit longer to achieve what we’ve set out for ourselves, and that’s OK.
