UPFRONT | From the editor Here comes the sun... Welcome to the sunshine-y season. Let’s reflect: Where were you as a business owner a year ago? Were you struggling? Or, perhaps you were exceeding your business expectations/goals. How have you helped your community and contributed to the healthcare everyone needs? Recently, we took a poll of our Instagram followers (@chiropracticnatur-opathicdoc) asking a few of these questions, and some answers can be found on page 7. Speaking of polls...look out for our annual Practice Trends Survey, launching in July! Ensure you’re signed up to our weekly e-newslet-ter at cndoctor.ca/subscribe for more information. Some of our readership had to downsize staff, or have realized that the COVID-19 pandemic will change their business moving forward. For some, it’s the inclusion of wearing a mask: “ I can’t imagine breathing directly into someone’s face again without a mask,” said one of our readers. Reflecting back on the past, some of you may have changed pace and left the clinic to work from home, or you’ve sold your clinic and transitioned into a new one. No matter what your situation is, you’re not alone. On page 16, you’ll find advice for building your “dream team” – just in case you’re looking to branch out and create your own clinic. Sometimes we can’t run our full stories via our magazine pages, so don’t forget to read Dr. Klein’s full story online at our website at cndoctor.ca/dreamteam. Take a moment to read the commentary on page 18, which looks at the use of language (“evidence-based” vs. “evidence-informed) in patient care. While written by colleagues from the chiropractic world, the article has salient talking points for our ND readers, and healthcare practitioners in general, as well. As the writers say: “ The purpose of this commentary is to differentiate between evidence-based and evidence-informed terminology in relation to chiropractic education and clinical practice. In addition, we hope to stimulate future discussion and debate regarding the appropriate usage of these terms within the wider chiropractic and naturopathy profes-sions.” There’s no doubt we’ve all had to “pivot” during this past year. Read up on Dr. Markou’s advice on page 22, and don’t miss Dr. Lombardi’s column on why telemedicine can’t replace in-person care.
