feature Simple Solutions for Success Two streets named ‘Hard’ O Dr. Barbara Eaton is the Head Coach and Dean of Achievement at Chirocollege.com. She and her team help chiropractors and their support staff, worldwide, to achieve their practice goals. ur reality is that life consistently presents to us two streets named “Hard.” The first hard way yields the same results we’ve always arrived at. The second street yields the results we desperately crave. Thus, we just have to decide which “Hard” we want. For example, in order to have a strong marriage/relationship, we have to learn the art of compromise, understanding, patience, support and selflessness. It’s not always easy to exhibit these attributes. The reward of choosing this street named “Hard,” however, is a strong marriage/relationship that stands the test of time. Bliss!! Or, we can opt for the other street named “Hard,” which means we only see things our way (no compromise), have a short-temper (no patience), nag/complain (lack of support) . . . you get the idea. This street named “Hard” yields an unfulfilling marriage/relationship and sometimes even divorce. WHAT THIS MEANS, PROFESSIONALLY When it comes to our business, we’re faced with two similar streets named “Hard.” It’s hard to budget our time, energy, and money, and to be consistent in our execution and implementation of the strategies that yield a highly profitable and abundantly satisfying business. The rewards, however, are the opportunity to provide extraordinary service, living our philosophy of abundance full-out, and a lifestyle worthy of envy and praise. Or we can opt for the other street named “Hard,” the one in which we struggle from the shackles of excuses; we become diseased because of worry and fear; the reality that we’re not living the life we thought we would have because of the cloud of defeat that seems to surround us and that everyone dashes to get away from; and we must live with the tragedy of service being lost to those who need it. This street named “Hard” has claimed the lives and dreams of way too many of my chiropractic brothers and sisters. There are as many opportunities to choose the abundance of the other street named www.canadianchiropractor.ca Barbara Eaton, DC 42 • CANADIAN CHIROPRACTOR | APRIL 2011
