ECU 2011 CONVENTION The Swiss Chiropractic Association will be hosting the Europe-an Chiropractors’ Union ECU 2011 convention in Zürich from June 2-4. Zürich is best-known for being one of the biggest financial centres in the world and as a centre for cutting edge research and development. Zürich consistently places among the top three cities in the world on quality-of-life surveys and is the home of choice for many of the world’s largest multinational corporations to do both business and top technical and medical research. It is therefore a very fitting location to address the theme of this year’s convention, “Is Your Patient Getting Better?” This year’s convention will look at unbiased ways of measuring and demonstrating the effective-ness of chiropractic treatment for various conditions and injuries. A clear measure of patient improvement helps patients to see their progress over time and helps doctors develop better treat-ment plans. The lectures and many of the meals will all take place within the Zürich Swissotel, where a reduced price on rooms has been negotiated for those who book well in advance. With experts from all over the world hosting a great academic program, this year’s European Chiropractors’ Union convention in Zürich prom-ises to be an enlightening and memorable experience for all who attend. For more information on this event, including program details and registration forms, please visit www.ecuconventions.com. • The journal Chiropractic and Osteopathy changed its name to Chiropractic and Manual Therapies in January 2011. The change reflects the expanding numbers of fields from which practitioners are submitting work regarding manual therapies. Chiropractic and Manual Therapies is a joint venture be-tween BioMed Central and the European Academy of Chiropractic (EAC) -a subsidiary body of the European Chiropractic Union (ECU) -in association with the Chiropractic and Osteopathic College of Australasia (COCA). This online journal will continue to publish research abstracts from chi-ropractors but will also expand its base to include submissions from a variety of other manual therapy practitioners, as well. You can access the journal via www.chiromt.com and a link will also be available from both the EAC and ECU websites. For those in the field of research, this is an ideal opportunity to publish articles; all submitted manuscripts are reviewed by a distinguished editorial board and tracked and indexed by PubMed within days of acceptance by the editors. This open-access journal offers rapid communication of re-search findings around the world. It offers readers the oppor-tunity to contact researchers via email and comment on the research. The EAC hopes that Chiropractic and Manual Thera-pies will prove fruitful in promoting chiropractic and manual therapy research in an inter-disciplinary platform. • RESEARCH jOURNAL LAUNCHES jOINT VENTURE WITH EAC news do you know someone who would like to be a chiropractor?
