From the Land of the Long White Cloud Chiropractic in New Zealand By Maria DiDanieli The city of Auckland, in New Zealand, is home to the New Zealand College of Chiropractic. missioned report called “Chiropractic in New Zealand” was published. The report was origi-nally launched due to publicly driven petitions to have chiropractic funded like medicine under the health system and was supposed to have taken a few months to create. However, the project extended over two years, and resulted in the most in-depth analysis of the profes-sion around the world in its time. The report has been credited with changing the perception of chiropractic around the world. In 2009, the New Zealand Chiropractors’ Association had the pleasure of celebrating the 30-year anniversary since the publication of this landmark report, but this is not the country’s only accomplishment vis-a-vis the profession of chiropractic. New Zealand’s chiropractors are currently regulated by chiropractors practising in New Zealand and they are regulated by the New Zealand Chiropractors’ Association and the New Zealand Chiropractic Board. The New Zealand College of Chiropractic is a burgeoning educational institution that is working to add to add to the number of DCs in the country. Initially formed in 1994, the college eventually gained degree-granting status and, in 2002, was granted accreditation to bestow its current bachelor of chiropractic degree. The program is gaining recognition and attracting an increas-ing number of international students. As well, the college is excelling in the area of research with post-graduate investigators making significant strides in the global scientific community. Finally, chiropractors from around the world have nestled their practices in various locations within this stunningly beautiful country.
