Spine, Pelvis and Posture Analysis Ideal for chiropractors ▶ DEVELOP YOUR DIAGNOSTICS ▶ PLAN YOUR TREATMENTS ▶ DOCUMENT THE OUTCOMES The Art, Science and Philosophy of Chiropractic A pediatric approach – part 2 T his particular article is a continuation of the principles put forward in the previous issue. The previous article outlined some of the principles for achieving a successful practice that includes children. One of the overriding principles discussed was “the big idea” – a concept heard so frequently in chiropractic circles. This concept of having a big vision, or big purpose or major objective as a means to achieving an end, is an idea that has been discussed since antiquity. Napoleon Hill, the founder of the modern personal achieve- ment movement, taught this principle by stating, “You must have a major defi nite purpose that burns within you, that whips you into a white heat.” B.J. Palmer is famous for stating, “Get the big idea and all else follows.” He used this concept to reach his monu- mental achievements. But, this idea no longer need be accepted on the good faith of the person teaching it – quantum physics has made it an idea whose time has come and chiropractors are ideally positioned to use it for the benefi t of their patients. ▶ FAST ▶ CONTACTLESS ▶ RADIATION-FREE Biometrix Medica a Canadian Company [email protected] 1.866.780.0525 www.biometrixmedica.com 40 • CANADIAN CHIROPRACTOR | APRIL 2008 Dr. Jamie Neely is a chiropractor, writer and consultant. He currently practises in London, Ont., with his wife,Dr.Laina Shulman. www.canadianchiropractor.ca THE BIG IDEA OF QUANTUM PHYSICS Quantum physics’ essential premise is that the intent of the ob- server helps to create the events being observed. This is true for health and healing and can be used by chiropractors to help their patients achieve wellness. Said another way, what you focus on expands and becomes reality. In terms of patient well-being, the more intent the doctor is on healthy outcomes, the more probable it is that they will occur. Therefore, the doctor’s defi nition of what type of health and well-being he/she intends to facilitate for the patient must be deeply understood (i.e., where specifically the doctor lies on the health spectrum must be clear to that doctor). For example, quantum physics explains that, after attending a shoulder seminar, the newly enthusiastic shoulder specialist be- gins to have patients with shoulder problems that he can now help. If the doctor learns a new technique, there will be people showing up to receive that technique. This occurs because of the doctor’s quantum shift in focus to that technique. Jamie Neely, DC
