DR. PENNY KENDALLREED, ND 2022-03-14 18:12:19

You read their content, now get to know them a little better…

Who are you? Dr Penny Kendall- Reed, I’m a practising naturopathic doctor in Yorkville, Toronto, and have been in practice for 24 years with a focus on neurometabolic disorders. Over the past 10 years, I’ve incorporated and developed genetic analysis as a central component of diagnosis and patient management.

What sets you apart? I analyze and interpret genetic profiles, using them to design personalized health programs for patients worldwide. This allows me to identify the root cause of problems with my patients and personalize treatment protocols based on their specific genetic make-up.

Where do you see the profession in 10 years? I see genetics being central to patient management protocols. It provides a truly personalized approach – which patients expect – and it explains why a treatment works perfectly for one individual but doesn’t work at all (or actually worsens the condition) in another. Genetics allows us to access the root cause of illness and provides the information necessary to promote a patient’s innate healing response – the main tenet of naturopathic medicine.

When do you feel the most accomplished? I feel the most accomplished when a patient returns feeling healthy, happy and “like themselves” again after struggling for years to find a solution to their problem.

Why Contribute to Chiropractic + Naturopathic Doctor? I have found my clinical approach using genetics has been pivotal in enhancing care for my patients. I feel strongly that this is the way forward for our professions and would love to share this information as widely as possible in our medical community.

How do you engage with your patients? I am very open and honest with patients. I teach them about their individual genes and how they are contributing to their unique issues. By helping them understand their unique genetic makeup they then have the power to change their health – permanently.

DR. ESHA SINGH, ND

Who are you? Dr. Esha Singh, and I’m a naturopathic doctor in Vancouver BC. I practice at an integrative clinic in South Vancouver with a focus in integrative dermatology.

What sets you apart in your profession? Having experienced eczema as a child, I’ve always had a long-standing interest in dermatological conditions. While my clinical focus in integrative dermatology isn’t unheard of, it isn’t as common as other areas of medicine (e.g. gut health).

Where do you see the profession in the next 10 years? I see there being a greater push towards making naturopathic medicine more evidence-informed/ based. I also hope to see more integration of patient care with other healthcare providers to build a stronger healthcare network. When do you feel most accomplished? I feel most accomplished when my patients feel seen and heard.

Why contribute to Chiropractic + Naturopathic Doctor? It is a great way to learn and share information with our peers.

How do you engage with your patients? Social media! It is a great way to creatively highlight my practice and introduce people to naturopathic medicine.
