Hospital appointment

Chiropractic radiologist and occasional guest columnist for Canadian Chiropractor Dr. Marshall Deltoff was recently appointed to a full-time position at Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya, Israel. Deltoff, a Canadian, is the first chiropractor ever to be on staff at Galilee Medical Center. He has been appointed to a research position in the Department of Orthopedics, under the direction of Dr. Haim Shtarker, chairman of pediatric orthopedics. “This is a tremendous opportunity for me, and I am very grateful and proud to represent our profession,” Deltoff said. “The learning experience is phenomenal; I am treated as a total equal, going on rounds with the surgeons, visiting patients, and conducting research and manuscript preparation. It is particularly gratifying to see the incredible humanitarian work being done by these dedicated Israeli surgeons as they treat many children who are victims of the fighting in Syria.”

Video campaign

The Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) has launched a new social media campaign called Chiropractic Care Changed My Pain. The campaign includes a video depicting people who suffer with spine, muscle and nervous system conditions and the profound impact that chiropractors have on their lives. The campaign, which is now being shared through social media, was launched in conjunction with the observance of World Spine Day last October 16. The video can be viewed at www.chirochangespain.ca and on Facebook.

Dr. Pain hits airwaves

Toronto chiropractor Dr. Luigi Nalli is the host of a new radio show on AM640. The Doctor Pain Show is a live radio show, which airs every Saturday at noon, that deals with all things related to pain care and pain management. The show is co-hosted by John Scholes, a DJ with Q107 and AM640. The Doctor Pain Show discusses various pain-related topics, as Nalli takes live calls from listeners. Topics include diagnosis, prognosis, treatments and plan of management, Nalli said. In previous episodes, the show has also featured special guests. Nalli and his team are also planning to launch a TV show that also deals with topics related to pain.

Parker appoints new president

Dr. William Morgan has been appointed as the new president of Parker University. As the seventh president of Parker University, Morgan will begin his term presiding over an expanding roster of both programs and students as the university pursues its “mission of comprehensive education dedicated to research, service and education.” Morgan’s inauguration was held at the Parker University main campus in Dallas, Texas at the Standard Process Student Activity Center on October 7, 2016. In 1998, Morgan was chosen to establish the first chiropractic clinic at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, which later became Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. In 2015, Walter Reed recognized Morgan with its highest honor for clinical excellence, the Master Clinician’s Award. During the last 18 years at the military’s most prestigious medical centers, he practiced in an integrative setting providing chiropractic care to the injured troops returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since 2007, Morgan has served as the chiropractic consultant to the White House. He was appointed chiropractor for the United States Naval Academy football team in 2009.

Canadian DC elected chair at Life West

The Life Chiropractic College West board of regents has unanimously elected Dr. Amit (Jimmy) Nanda as its new chair. A Canadian chiropractor from Oakville, Ont., Nanda has served on the Life West board since 2014, and as chair of the Governance Committee since 2015. Nanda’s election, which followed the appointment of former board chair Dr. Ron Oberstein as the college’s interim president, is notable since he is believed to be the first chiropractic college board chair of Indian origin. Nanda is the founder of the India Association of Chiropractic Doctors. He has placed significant effort on promoting diversity – including through enhanced recruitment efforts and international seminars – for Life West and throughout the profession. As a Life West graduate of 2003, Nanda is deeply committed to shepherding his alma mater into a continued legacy of excellence in chiropractic education, a statement from Life West said. He has been a leader in helping chiropractors expand their practices and grow their influence in Canada for the past 13 years. Life Chiropractic College West, which offers a Doctor of Chiropractic degree, is internationally recognized for leadership and innovation in chiropractic education. Life Chiropractic College West is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Chiropractic Education, an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
